THE MORNINGTON CABLE CAR, AND ITS PLANNED RETURN

Cable Cars served the Mornington line, up High Street and along Eglinton Road, from 1883 to 1957. The plan now is that, after an absence of over 60 years, the service will be reinstated, perhaps in the early 2020s. Once again, the 'little matchbox cars' may delight visitors and locals, offering an experience that can be had in only one other city in the world (San Francisco, the original home of cable cars).
